Bayern Munich Transfers: 3 Players who could leave the Bavarians

The Bundesliga is all set to become the first major league to resume in Europe, with a bunch of German clubs returning to action on Saturday.

The race for the Bundesliga title is truly on this season as league leaders Bayern Munich just have a four-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund, while RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach are not far behind.

Before the suspension of the league due to the coronavirus pandemic, Bayern Munich enjoyed a 14-match unbeaten run across all competitions which helped them to reclaim the top spot in the league table.

Hansi Flick, who replaced Niko Kovac as the Bayern Munich manager in November last year, didn’t have the best of starts as the Bavarian giants lost two of his first four Bundesliga games in charge of the club. However, the unbeaten run proved his credentials and Bayern Munich rewarded him with a contract until 2023 in April.

Flick will now want to dip in the upcoming transfer window to further strengthen his side, and it is also certain that a few Bayern Munich players will leave to make room for new arrivals.

And so, here is a list of three players who could leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

#1 Kingsley Coman

The player who is most likely to leave Bayern Munich is Kingsley Coman. The French winger, whose loan move from Juventus was made permanent by the Bavarians in 2017, has thus far amassed 147 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga champions, scoring 30 goals and setting up 33 more.

Manchester City’s Leroy Sane has been a long-term target of Bayern Munich, and if the German winger arrives at the Allianz Arena at the end of the season, Sky Sports Germany reports that Kingsley Coman may move the other way. If that does happen indeed, Coman will be reunited with Pep Guardiola, who managed him for a season at Bayern Munich.

Besides Manchester City, La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been credited with showing interest in Coman, who recently heaped praise on Pep Guardiola.

#2 Corentin Tolisso

Another player who has been linked with leaving Bayern Munich this summer is Corentin Tolisso. The Frenchman joined the Bundesliga giants for a club-record fee of €41.5 million from Lyon in the summer of 2017. The midfielder, who has struggled for game time in Germany, has thus far netted 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 68 appearances in all competitions for Bayern Munich.

According to Foot Mercato, several European heavyweights are interested in the 2018 World Cup winner, with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Juventus keeping tabs on Tolisso’s situation at the Allianz Arena.

Sky Germany journalist Max Bielefeld believes Corentin Tolisso is destined to leave Bayern Munich once the transfer window reopens.

“The player is very unhappy with his current situation. He wants to leave, and Bayern would be willing to let him go immediately. I can’t imagine that he will still be playing for Bayern next season.”

Tolisso is almost certain to leave Bayern Munich but it remains to be seen which club win the race to secure his signature.

#3 Sven Ulreich

Sven Ulreich, Bayern Munich’s second-choice goalkeeper, is another player who could be on his way out of the Bavarian club. Since joining Bayern from Stuttgart in 2015, Ulreich has mostly played second fiddle to Manuel Neuer.

But with Schalke’s Alexander Nubel joining Bayern Munich at the end of the season, he could drop further down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena. Although Ulreich previously insisted that he wants to stay at Bayern Munich and fight with Nubel to become Neuer’s understudy, it’s looking likely that the 31-year-old will leave the Bundesliga champions in search for more game time.

Ulreich has himself confirmed that he is open to a move away from the club to play more regularly.

“If I had the opportunity to play regularly elsewhere, I would switch and want to take this step.”
