Chelsea will take the trip to Lancashire to take on Burnley in a Premier League clash over the weekend. The Blues played out a 0-0 draw against Manchester United last week and are currently tenth in the Premier League table with nine points.

Frank Lampard’s side have been inconsistent at the start of the season but are coming into the game on the back of 4-0 win over Krasnodar in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

On the other hand, Burnley are in desperate need of a win after losing four of their opening five league games and their only point this season came at newly-promoted outfit West Brom earlier in October.

But with the Premier League often pulling up shocking results this season, the Clarets will hope to spring a surprise on Chelsea this Saturday.

Burnley vs Chelsea: Head-to-Head

Total games: 100

Burnley wins: 38

Chelsea wins: 38

Drawn games: 24

Burnley and Chelsea have a similar record of 38 wins each since the first time they met in 1905.

But the home side’s recent record against Chelsea is nothing to write home about. Since beating the Blues 3-2 at Stamford Bridge in 2017, the Clarets have lost four of their last five games against the west London side.

They last took a point from Chelsea in April 2019 when they managed to play out a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Burnley vs Chelsea: Recent form

Burnley: L-L-L-D-L

Chelsea: W-D-D-D-W

Burnley have made a torrid start to the season and have only earned one point from a draw at fellow relegation-threatened side West Brom. They have lost four of their opening five league games and have not looked like winning a game in the Premier League thus far.

Chelsea too have been inconsistent and have drawn their last two games against Southampton and Manchester United respectively. But the Blues won 4-0 away at Russian outfit Krasnodar in the Champions League on Wednesday night and are coming into the Burnley clash with a little bit of confidence.

Burnley vs Chelsea: Team news

Burnley

Burnley have continued to miss the services of Jack Cork and Ben Mee and the duo are unlikely to be fit before the upcoming international break.

Phil Bardsley’s positive COVID-19 test kept him out of the defeat against Tottenham and he will also be missing the visit from Chelsea on Sunday. Erik Pieters is still doubtful about playing this weekend due to calf problem.

Chelsea

Chelsea have two injury concerns in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Billy Gilmour but neither of them are in contention of getting a starting eleven berth.

Thiago Silva will return to the team after missing their Champions League trip to Russia on Wednesday night.

Burnley vs Chelsea: Probable XI

Burnley: Pope; Lowton, Long, Tarkowski, Taylor; Gudmundsson, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil; Wood, Barnes

Chelsea: Mendy; James, Zouma, Silva, Chilwell; Kante, Jorginho; Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic; Werner

Burnley vs Chelsea: Prediction

While Chelsea have been inconsistent and their defence remains a cause for concern, the Blues are expected to have too much against Burnley. They have the forward line to overwhelm a Burnley side who have not won a game this season in the Premier League.

The Clarets are in desperate need of a positive performance and despite not winning a game thus far, they would consider a draw against Chelsea top result. However, it would a shock if Chelsea do anything but beat Sean Dyche’s side on Sunday.

Burnley vs Chelsea predicted scoreline: 0-3
