Indian senior pace bowler Ishant Sharma in a live chat session with his IPL franchise Delhi capitals said he is aware of the discussions going around on the possible ban on saliva and sweat to shine the ball and believes that fast bowlers should have get used to the situation.

“We know there are talks of some changes and adjustments in cricket, but I feel cricketers will have to get used to the new normal, whatever that is” said Ishant during the Instagram live.

There is no other option

Ishant Sharma, who played 97 Tests for India so far, said that the ball might not shine as per the bowler’s choice if the traditional practice is not allowed to use but at the end you have to follow the rule.

“There is no other option but to get used to these things,” said the veteran player during the chat.

“But honestly I don’t like to think about these things too much. I feel it is important to stay in the present and not look too far ahead,” added Ishant.

Ponting is the best coach I ever met

The lanky seamer during the show praised the Aussie player and current Delhi Capitals’ Coach Ricky Ponting and said he is the best coach he has ever met.

“He’s the best coach I’ve ever met. I was very nervous when I was making a return to the IPL last season. I was almost feeling like a debutante walking into the camp the first day, but he gave me a lot of confidence since the first day I arrived at the camp.

Adding a few words more, Ishant gave the credit of his success with the ball to his county stint at Sussex.

“My county stint (in 2018) with Sussex was what changed everything. It was a gruelling stint for me because I was bowling 22-23 overs in a day, batting as well, and then coming back home to do the chores. It was a tough drill but somehow I enjoyed it a lot,”

added Ishant Sharma.
