CSK Releases Harbhajan: Bhajji ends contract with Chennai franchise

After Harbhajan Singh’s 2-year contract with Chennai Super Kings ended, the franchise has released him. All teams have to give a list of released and retained players by Wednesday. After the release, Harbhajan said that his journey with CSK was a great one.

Bhajji thanked the Chennai franchise

Bhajji became the first player to be released by any IPL team before the auction. He thanked the Chennai franchise by posting it on social media. Harbhajan wrote, ‘My contract with CSK is over. Playing for this team was a great experience. I have many memories with this team. I made many friends. Thank you to the Chennai management, staff and fans and best wishes to the franchise.

Did not play in the 13th season due to personal reasons

Harbhajan was one of the two CSK players who did not participate in the 13th season of IPL for personal reasons. In the 2019 season, he took 16 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 19.5. Harbhajan was bought by CSK for a price of Rs 2 crore. After the release, it will add 2 crores to the salary cap of Chennai. Pocket of Chennai currently has 15 lakh rupees.

According to media reports, Chennai franchise Suresh Raina, Piyush Chawla and Murali Vijay may be released. At the same time, Shane Watson has already retired from all leagues. Apart from this, Kedar Jadhav can also be released.

The 40-year-old Harbhajan has played 160 matches in the IPL so far. In this he took 150 wickets at an average of 26.44 and an economy of 7.05. Bhajji also played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20s for India. He has 417 wickets in Tests and 269 wickets in ODIs.
