Boxing star Dingko Singh who won gold medal in Asian Games of 1998 at Bangkok, has tested positive for COVID-19. Ngangom Dingko Singh, usually known as ‘Dingko Singh’, is an Indian Naval Boxer and considered to be one of the most outstanding boxers India has ever produced.
According to a report by TOI, the gold medalist boxer was quarantined at Imphal’s hotel after he took an ambulance, which in over two days covered a road distance of 2400 kms, to return to Manipur from Delhi.

The boxer is currently serving the quarantine period as per government’s guidelines after he returned to Manipur from Delhi and took the mandatory COVID-19 test before leaving for home from Imphal’s Hotel Yaiphaba, where he had been initially quarantined after the long road journey from Delhi to Imphal.
“They informed me yesterday, I was all ready to go home from the quarantine centre and now I’m back, admitted at the hospital,” TOI quoted Dingko as saying.
The gold medalist boxer further added that he has have full confidence in his doctors and is following them
“Despite my condition, the doctors are confident I will be alright soon. Let’s see what’s in fate for me,” he added.
Waiting in Delhi was extremely risky
Adding further to his statement, he told PTI that he took the road option since waiting in Delhi was extremely risky.
“We decided to take the ambulance as we didn’t know when the flights would resume and waiting in Delhi was extremely risky,” Dingko was quoted by TOI as saying.
Notably, the coronavirus cases is continue to evolve all over the country including the country capital who ranked number three with 19844 cases in the list of most affected COVID-19 states/UTs.
