Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have already been struggling in this edition of the Indian Premier League and the franchise has now suffered another blow. All-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the tournament after picking up a groin injury. He suffered the injury during the match between CSK and DC.
The CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the news to Cricbuzz and further said that Bravo will be flying back to West Indies on Thursday. “Bravo is ruled out due with groin injury,” Viswanathan said. “He will fly out tomorrow. The team management will decide if we need a replacement,” he added.
The MS Dhoni-led side is already sitting at the bottom of the points table and are on a verge of almost getting knocked out of the tournament.
Bravo had bowled only three overs but wasn’t able to bowl the fourth one against Delhi Capitals. Chennai had faced a lot of trouble in the IPL 2020. While the key players like Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh opted out of the IPL 2020, Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad tested positive for COVID-19 and forced their quarantine period to get extended.
Bravo has finished the tournament with six wickets in six matches while batted only twice to score 7 runs.
Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood had replaced Bravo in their last match against Rajasthan Royals but CSK’s dismal run continued as they lost to RR as well to take their defeats tally to 7. Apart from Hazlewood, CSK have Imran Tahir, Mitchell Santner and Lungi Ngidi as overseas option.
