Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been a constant source of transfer speculation.

The FIFA 2018 World Cup winner was desperate to leave the Premier League club in the summer of 2019, however, things didn’t go as per his wishes.

Two clubs, Real Madrid and Juventus have been linked as favourable destinations for the star midfielder for a while now.

Earlier this month, Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola hinted at a move away from the club. Raiola went on to claim, “My relations with Real Madrid are very good. I am in contact with Jose Angel. I want to take a footballer there and I will try this summer. It would be a pride for me and my footballers because Real Madrid is a great club,” he told Spanish outlet Marca.

Paul Pogba endured a difficult 2019-20 campaign after doing well last season at Manchester United.

He remains a vital cog for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who values the Frenchman highly. Pogba suffered an injury in September 2019 and didn’t feature until December.

However, the injury resurfaced and he had to undergo a surgery. The Frenchman is continuing to recover and has started slight individual training.

With the 2019-20 season suspended as of now amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Pogba will be hoping to make an impact if the season does resume later on.

Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Pogba is interested in a move away from Old Trafford and is keen to win trophies elsewhere. The idea of playing at a more established club is believed to be the reason behind his wish.

Here we present the five major reasons as to why Manchester United Should Sell Paul Pogba once the summer transfer window opens.

Inconsistent Pogba is keen to switch pastures

A club shouldn’t keep an unhappy player and Pogba’s desire to make a switch is a valid reason why the Red Devils should allow him to find a new club.

Pogba is determined to enjoy a new challenge after an inconsistent four-year spell at United on his return. The fans do not trust him completely and many feel he can cause issues in the United dressing room.

Earlier, Pogba fell out with former manager Jose Mourinho and his performances also didn’t catch the eye.

Inconsistency followed him in 2019-20 as well. In eight matches, he failed to score a single goal. Notably, last season the player scored 16 goals in 47 matches.

Pogba is a world class player, however, United haven’t seen him at his best.

Manchester United should make use of Pogba’s contract situation

Pogba’s current deal at United expires next season. The club has an option to extend it by another year.

If United do get a suitor this summer, they can cash in and derive the maximum. The funds received can be used to sign primary targets like Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish or Leicester City’s James Maddison.

Moreover, Pogba’s agent Raiola will push for a move and the club can seize this opportunity.

Real Madrid are hoping to sell players to make way for Pogba. The price will be significant (GBP 100 million) and both parties could be happy.

With the coronavirus pandemic stifling finances, a big money deal could aid United.

The former Juventus star is determined to join Spanish giants Real and it’s his dream to play at the Bernabeu as per reports.

At Real, Pogba will be cherished widely and he will become the focal point. Real would be wanting to replace veteran Luka Modric, who is 34 years of age. In Pogba, they get a long term solution and someone who can thrive alongside Toni Kroos and Casemiro.

Pogba will back himself to strike a partnership with these two midfielders and thrive in a 4-3-3 formation.

Real are record UEFA Champions League winners and it’s a dream for any footballer to claim the biggest prize in European club football. At United, Pogba isn’t assured of playing Champions League football as of now.

United should make use of the players at disposal

United’s midfield of late did reasonably well. Fred has become indispensable as a holding midfielder. He has been United’s biggest positive this season.

Senior player Nemanja Matic fought his way back into the side and a string of consistent shows has seen Man United wanting to extend his contract. Matic is a leader and can be of significant influence.

Then there is Scott McTominay, who has shown he deserves to be be on the pitch every single game. A proper United player, McTominay brings the pedigree former club legends brought.

He is not afraid and is growing strongly. In Andreas Pereira, United get a versatile player, who fits in no matter what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asks of him.

With Bruno Fernandes at number 10, United need someone to replace Pogba. Youngster Jack Grealish comes to the mind as someone who can thrive at this club.

Pogba could do wonders under Zinedine Zidane

A player like Pogba wants to fight for the major trophies. At Real, he can achieve the same. The Spanish club is always in the running as far Champions League honours are concerned.

Pogba can vie for trophies under Zinedine Zidane. He is believed to be a great fan of the French legend and is determined to work under the former Juventus and Real hero.

Zidane is a serial winner as far trophies are concerned and that’s something which Pogba will look at with great interest.

On the other hand, Pogba shares a cordial relation with Solskjaer, however, he knows that United are in a period of transition and the vision Solskjaer has will take a bit of time to be fulfilled. It’s therefore natural for him to earn success at a relatively well established side.

Pogba knows he can learn a lot from Zidane and a move to Real could benefit him largely. Overall, the move also benefits United, who can focus on players willing to give 100% every week.
