In today’s transfer round-up, we have the latest news and rumours regarding the most high-profile signings that could take place in the coming days in top European football leagues.

AC Milan switch interests Serge Aurier

Serge Aurier has a reputation for being brilliant and erratic at the same time. The former Paris Saint-German star, who made 42 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur in 2019-20, looks likely to leave AC Milan.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, there has been continuous contact between the two clubs and the player’s entourage. The full-back has been made available to the Serie A giants and even Aurier is keen on a transfer to AC Milan.

However, the Rossoneri do not want to pay the £20m demanded by Tottenham as they are waiting for Spurs to lower their asking price.

Leicester City show interest in Barcelona youngster

Leicester City are trying to sign Francisco Trincao from Barcelona and have offered to take the forward on loan for two seasons with an obligation to buy for £45m (€50m).

The 20-year-old is one of Portugal’s most highly-rated youngsters and in January, Barcelona agreed on a deal with Braga to bring Trincao to the Camp Nou this summer in a transfer worth a €31m.

Trincao’s contract with Barcelona, which runs until 2025, includes a buy-out clause of €500m. But Leicester are favourites to secure his signature, despite Atalanta also showing interest in the 20-year-old .

AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen interested in Norwich defender Ben Godfrey

Ben Godfrey has been in demand after a breakthrough Premier League season with Norwich City. AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen are said to be in a battle for the Canaries central defender.

The England Under-21 international, who impressed in the Premier League, despite Daniel Farke’s team getting relegated to the Championship, has become a key transfer target for both AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen.

Sky in Italy reported that Godfrey’s representatives met with AC Milan officials before their Serie A win against Cagliari on Saturday and they remain the front runners to secure his signature.

With Bayer Leverkusen also joining the fray, the race for the 22-year-old looks set to go right down to the wire.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg inching closer to Tottenham move

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg looks set to join Tottenham Hotspur in a transfer worth £15m. The Danish midfielder, who didn’t feature for Southampton after the restart, is close to joining Jose Mourinho’s team after initial interest from Everton for his transfer.

Hojbjerg, who has one year to run on his Southampton contract, has been a vital player for the Saints since joining them from Bayern Munich in 2016. The former Brondby star has made 134 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League club so far.

Hojbjerg is now expected to agree personal terms and sign a contract with Spurs in the coming days.

Southampton keen sign Kyle Walker-Peters permanently

Southampton are keen to quickly finalise the signing of Tottenham Hotspur loanee Kyle Walker-Peters as West Ham United threaten to rival the Saints for the full-back’s transfer. The Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate spent the second half of the 2019-20 season on loan with the south coast club.

The England Under-21 international has featured in each of Southampton’s nine games following the restart as the Saints collected 18 points, losing just one match in a confident end to the season.

According to reports, the 23-year-old, who is valued in the region of £12m, looks likely to join Southampton as they are already in talks with Spurs regarding Pierre Emile Hojbjerg’s potential move to north London.

The deal looks like a win-win situation for both parties as Jose Mourinho does not favour the England Under-21 international, while he started regularly for Ralph Hasenhuttl‘s side.
