Suresh Raina, who has been searching a place in the national team for a long period of time wished that BCCI would change some of its rule to motivate the players who are struggling to find a place in the team.
Recently, in a Instagram live session with Irfan Pathan, the left-handed batsman said that it’s unfortunate that players are not getting enough chances to ‘keep them ready for the national call.’
Allowed to play at least two foreign leagues
The star Indian batsman and a member of world cup winning team, Suresh Raina explained that it’s not easy to comeback if you are not getting enough competitive cricket.
He said that the non contracted players should be allowed to play at least two foreign leagues. It would also add or improve their cricketing skill.
“…..I wish BCCI plans something with ICC or the franchises… whichever player is not with a BCCI contract should be allowed to play in foreign T20 leagues. Because I feel there a lot of players like that – including Yusuf Pathan, myself, Robin Uthappa… There are many quality players who can go abroad and learn a lot of things, whichever league that is in. Allow us to play in two leagues, where we go, play and the BCCI themselves say ‘you go play there..’,”
said Suresh Raina.
Irfan echoed the statement
Irfan Pathan also seemed to agree with his under-19 partner and suggested a similar option for BCCI.
Irfan suggested that if a player aged 30 is not in future plan of BCCI, the board should allow the player to play foreign leagues.
“The group of players who are currently in his 30s and the BCCI thinks that they doesn’t fit their future plan, it should allow all those players to play in foreign leagues,” said the all rounder.
