In the Indian Super League (ISL) on Sunday, the match played between Bengaluru FC and Goa FC drew 2-2. Bengaluru were ahead 2–0 for about 65 minutes in the match, but then Igor Angulo, who was making a debut for Goa, saved his team from defeat by scoring goals in the 66th and 69th minutes.
For Bengaluru, Clienton Silva scored in the 27th and Spanish defender Juan Antonio Gonzalez Fernandez scored in the 57th minute.
Bengaluru played well from the beginning
Captain Sunil Chhetri, who led Bengaluru in the fourth season, missed the second and Aashiq Kurunian missed the goal in the 7th minute. Former champions Bangalore were consistently under pressure in the match with 65% ball possession and more than 150 passes for the first 25 minutes, benefiting in the form of goals.
Clad in a 23 number jersey, playing his first match in the ISL, midfielder Brazil’s Clienton Silva scored a brilliant goal in the 27th minute to give Bengaluru a 1-0 lead in the match. Bengaluru then dominated the first half with 65% ball possession and 316 passes. At the same time, the host Goa managed to pass 142 with 35% ball possession.
In the second half, the two-time runners-up came under pressure to return to Goa. While Bengaluru stepped on the field with a change. In the 57th minute, Spanish defender Juan Gonzalez scored his 50th match in the ISL with a goal from Eric Patarlu’s pass to give Bangalore a 2-0 lead.
Goa returns in the second half
It was difficult for Goa to make a comeback after trailing by two goals in the match. But Spanish forward Igor Angulo landed on the ground with the intention of doing something for Goa and he did it. Angulo, who was making a debut for Goa, first opened the team’s account with a brilliant goal on the pass from Brandon Fernandez in the 66th minute and then scored another goal in the 69th minute to bring Goa 2–2. Fernandez was assisted in the second goal as well.
