Juventus Transfers: 3 players who could leave the Old Lady

With Juventus struggling to insert their usual domestic dominance this campaign, their thirst for building the most fearsome squad in Europe is still well on track. Despite the temporary shutdown of the Serie A due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a host of transfer news are surrounding the most successful club in the history of Italian football.

Should the campaign resume next month, Juventus remain in contention to win the treble of the UEFA Champions League, Serie A, and the Copa Italia. Irrespective of the outcome of the present campaign, the Bianconeri are quietly preparing for a busy summer transfer window.

With several players performing below-par, Juventus have struggled with multiple on-field issues over the last year or so. Moreover, manager Maurizio Sarri himself has found it very difficult to implement his midfield dominated ‘Sarriball’ philosophy as he has a different breed of players in his ranks.

As a result, Juventus will have to dive into the transfer market but will have to offload a few players to make room for new arrivals.

And so, here is a list of three players who could leave Juventus in the upcoming transfer window.

#3 Alex Sandro

The Brazilian left-back joined the Old Lady for €26 million from FC Porto of in 2015. Since then, Alex Sandro has made 188 appearances for Juventus and has played a crucial role in their recent Serie A supremacy.

Known for his excellent tackling ability, Sandro is considered one of the best in his trade at the moment, owing to his quick, energetic, and exceptional game reading ability. The 29-year-old has already scored 10 times for Juventus, alongside providing 39 assists.

Alex Sandro has long been linked with a move away from Juventus. As per Tuttosport, an Italian daily, Juventus are very much keen on offloading their long-serving left-back in order to get their hands on Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri. The report further states that both clubs are in talks so that a potential swap-deal can take place.

#2 Daniele Rugani

Since joining Juventus in the summer of 2015, Daniele Rugani has barely featured for the Italian giants and has found game time limited, especially after the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax last summer. Regarded as one of the hottest prospects in world football, Rugani has only made 94 appearances in the last four years for the Old Lady.

The tall, versatile, and physically strong centre-back, who is capable of playing the ball out of the back-line, has come under criticism in the past due to his lack of pace and mobility. So far this campaign, Rugani has only appeared seven times across all competitions for the Serie A champions and has hardly found his feet under Maurizio Sarri’s management.

According to multiple reports, a host of English clubs, including the likes of Arsenal and Leicester City, are interested in the versatile defender. However, it has been also reported that AC Milan have made a late entry in the race to lure Rugani away from Juventus.

#1 Miralem Pjanić

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international joined Juventus from fellow Serie A outfit AS Roma in 2016. Since then, the multitalented midfielder has been a huge hit for the Bianconeri. Miralem Pjanic has already appeared in 167 matches across all competitions for the Old Lady, orchestrating Juventus’ midfield for almost four years now.

Pjanic is in the mould of an old fashioned deep-lying playmaker, who can fit in a variety of roles in the middle of the park – from a central midfielder to a box to box workhorse. In addition, Pjanic’s ability to find the back of the net has also benefitted the Serie A champions on several occasions. The 30-year-old has thus far managed to score 22 goals and provide 36 assists for Juventus.

As per recent reports, Pjanic is all set to say goodbye to Juventus in order to find new challenges elsewhere in Europe. The Italian giants want to cash in on Pjanic to raise funds for new signings. The likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea have been linked with making a move for Miralem Pjanić at the end of the season.
