Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, who also popularized the famous switch-hit shot, feels that Virat Kohli is way ahead than his Australian contemporary Steve Smith. Pietersen put forth his piece of opinion on a Instagram live session with Zimbawe cricketer Pommie Mbangwa.

Kevin in the live chat session hailed the Indian Skipper and said that Virat Kohli is a chase expert.

“He consistently wins games of cricket for India. He just keeps on turning the numbers, chasing, chasing, chasing.”

Smith doesn’t even come close

Former English batting great added a few more reasons in his ‘words of wonder’ for Indian Skipper and said that performing consistently under pressure makes Kohli substantially better than Kangaroo player Steve Smith.

“Kohli, hands down. Freakshow. His record chasing, winning games for India with the amount of pressure he consistently lives under, Smith doesn’t even come close,” quoted PTI as saying by Pietersen during the Instalive.

Kohli has outpaced Sachin Tendulkar

On the show, when he was asked to choose between Sachin and Kohli, the cricketer turned commentator again picked Kohli’s name and said winning game for your country is much more important than individual performance.

“Again Virat because of his chasing numbers. His chasing numbers are frightening. He averages 80 in chases, all his one-day hundreds come when chasing,” said Kevin Pietersen.

Explaining his choice, he said that his man of the match performances have always derived him.

“It was not the way that I played or how I played. How many Man of the Match performances and how many games that you win for England. And he (Kohli) does that for India. Unreal numbers,”

Kevin Pietersen.
