According to Forbes, Naomi Osaka has now become the highest-paid female athlete in history. Osaka earned a whopping $37 million dollars in the last year where she saw the rewards of her U.S Open victory in 2018 that made her famous.
The 22 year old Japanese athlete has replaced Serena Williams from the perch by earning $1.4 million more than American who had topped the list for the last four years.
This is the second instance when Naomi Osaka has got the better off Serena. The first time the world witnessed Osaka outing Serena Williams was at the infamous 2018 US Open Final. Osaka deprived Serena of 24th Grand slam. Since then Osaka, who is Asia’s finest tennis players, has been in the news.Â
Although Naomi Osaka’s form dipped In the latter part of 2019, she still managed to end the year as the highest-paid women athlete. She started off 2019 by winning the Australian Open, where she won herself $4,100,000.
