Sussex seamer Ollie Robinson will join the England squad at bio-secure bubble at Ageas Bowl in Southampton for the second Test against Pakistan confirmed the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Saturday August 8.
Earlier England had preferred an unchanged 14-men squad from that played against West Indies for the first Test against Pakistan underway at Emirates Old Trafford.
The news was confirmed by England cricket through a tweet: “Seamer Ollie Robinson has been withdrawn from Sussex’s squad for their Bob Willis Trophy match against Kent.
“He will join the bio-secure bubble at the Ageas Bowl as part of England men’s behind closed doors training group ahead of the second Test against Pakistan.”
Earlier Ollie Robinson, who has 244 wickets in 57 first-class games, had been part of England squad for the second Test against West Indies at Emirates Old Trafford but couldn’t make his debut as the Team management preferred left-arm seamer Sam Curran.
As England still have two more Tests this summer, it is expected that team management would rotate the fast bowlers to reduce the work load on them.
Pakistan and England will play the next two Tests behind closed doors at Ageas Bowl in Southampton. The second will played August 13 through August 18 and August 21 through August 25.
