Without further ado, let’s take a look at our Premier League Team of the Week for gameweek 04.

Goalkeeper: Alex McCarthy (Southampton)

Alex McCarthy had a stellar game against West Bromwich Albion as he helped his team to a 2-0 win. The custodian made three saves and the highest number of recoveries in the game (12). If not for McCarthy, Southampton would have found it difficult to pick up all the three points.

Right-Back: Serge Aurier (Tottenham Hotspur)

Serge Aurier started his first Premier League game of the campaign as he replaced Matt Doherty in Tottenham’s playing 11. The former Paris Saint-Germain man was in outstanding form against a Manchester United team, who are struggling for consistency.

The Frenchman provided an assist, scored a goal and managed the highest number of tackles (3) in the game, which Tottenham Hotspur won 6-1.

Centre-back: Yerry Mina (Everton)

Yerry Mina is a vital cog in the Everton team and the Colombian international had a fantastic game against Brighton and Hove Albion as the Toffees won 4-2 to maintain unbeaten start in the Premier League.

The former Barcelona man scored a brilliant goal, and also managed the highest number of interceptions (4) and blocks (3) in the game.

Centre-back: Kurt Zouma (Chelsea)

Kurt Zouma has kept Antonio Rudiger out of Chelsea‘s starting line-up and is looking more assured as a defender. The France international was at his dominating best against an out of sorts Crystal Palace side as he scored a goal, helped keep a clean sheet and managed the second-highest number of passes (96) in the game, with Chelsea winning the contest 4-0.

Left-back: Aaron Cresswell (West Ham United)

Aaron Cresswell played his best game of the campaign so far as he helped West Ham United to a shocking victory over top-four hopefuls Leicester City. The left-back provided two assists and helped his side keep a clean sheet as the Hammers thrashed the Foxes 3-0.

Central midfielder: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)

Jack Grealish was one of the major reasons behind Aston Villa staying up in the Premier League last season and he has started the present campaign in stunning fashion too.

The England international decimated the reigning champions, Liverpool, as he scored two goals and provided three assists. The Villa captain, who was awarded a new long-term contract, helped his side to the unlikeliest of victories as the scoreline was 7-2 in the favour of Villans at the end of the game.

Central midfielder: Oriol Romeu (Southampton)

Oriol Romeu had a brilliant game in the middle of the field as Southampton won comfortably against West Bromwich Albion. The former Chelsea midfielder scored a goal, managed the highest number of tackles (2), the second-highest number of interceptions (3) and the highest number of blocks (1) in the game.

Right-winger: James Rodriguez (Everton)

James Rodriguez is already turning out to be the signing of the season. The former Real Madrid man has taken the Premier League by storm with his creative gameplay.

The Columbian international was unstoppable against Brighton and Hove Albion as he scored two goals and provided an assist. Rodriguez has already scored thrice and set up two more in just four games.

Left-winger: Son Heung-Min (Tottenham Hotspur)

Son Heung-Min was in splendid form in Tottenham’s 6-1 win over Manchester United as Spurs humiliated the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

The South Korean international scored two goals and set up another as Tottenham showed signs of returning to form with this win after a disappointing result against Newcastle United last week.

Striker: Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

Ollie Watkins, one of the best strikers in the Championship last season, was nothing but sensational for Brentford in 2019-20. Aston Villa made him their record signing and the young striker look determined to prove his price tag.

He scored his first goal and the first hat-trick of his Premier League career against the reigning champions, Liverpool, as he helped his side to a 7-2 victory at Villa Park.

Striker: Callum Wilson (Newcastle United)

Callum Wilson was one of the most underrated strikers in the Premier League during his time with Bournemouth, who got relegated last season. The England international has been a top signing for Newcastle United in the early weeks of the campaign as he scored two goals and provided one assist against a depleted Burnley side.
