Venue: St. Mary’s Stadium

Referee: Jonathan Moss

Manchester United have won their last three games in all competitions but will be put through a tough test away at Southampton on Sunday.

The Saints have not lost since being put through the sword by Tottenham at home in a 5-2 defeat. They have won three of their last five league games while drawing two.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has acknowledged Southampton’s form and believe they have been one of the best teams in the league since last season.

However, the Red Devils need the win to continue their climb in the league table following a poor start to the season and their away form should give them confidence.

Solskjaer’s side have not lost a Premier League game on the road since January.

Southampton vs Manchester United: Head-to-Head

Total games – 127

Southampton wins – 28

Manchester United wins – 65

Draws – 34

Manchester United have a vastly superior record over Southampton since their first meeting in an FA Cup game in 1897.

Both their league games ended in draws but Southampton have not beaten Manchester United since 2016.

Since then they have lost four and drawn five against the Red Devils in all competitions.

Southampton form: D-W-W-W-D

Manchester United form: W-W-W-L-L

Southampton have looked strong in the Premier League since their 5-2 defeat to Tottenham in September.

They have not lost a game since then and are currently fifth in the league table. They are coming into Sunday’s game on the back of a 1-1 draw against Wolves.

Manchester United have recovered since back-to-back losses to Istanbul Basaksehir and Arsenal and have won their last three in all competitions.

They hammered Basaksehir at Old Trafford on Tuesday night and won their last two in the league against Everton and West Brom respectively.

Southampton vs Manchester United: Team news

Southampton

Nathan Redmond has been ruled out due to a nagging injury, which has restricted him to just three starts this season.

The Manchester United game has also come too early for Danny Ings, who could return to the squad next week.

Manchester United

Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay are likely to be out of the game after not training with the squad on the grass on Friday.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof have trained and are expected to be fit to play against Southampton.

Jesse Lingard has come out of isolation but is unlikely to feature against the Saints on Sunday.

Southampton vs Manchester United: Prediction

Southampton have not been beaten over the last two months and are on a seven-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

But Manchester United are on the verge of setting a new club record of away wins after winning seven in a row on their travels in the Premier League.

But the two sides played out two draws last season in the league and we believe that the scores are again going to be level at full time this Sunday as well.

Southampton vs Manchester United predicted scoreline: 1-1
