With governments beginning to ease lockdown across the globe, cricket boards have begun preparations to resume training. After England and West Indies cricketers, Sri Lanka cricketers will resume training form 1 June for the gradual resumption of the cricket after a hiatus of over 2 months .
According to the media release by Sri Lanka Cricket, a group of 13 Sri Lankan players will undergo a 12 day ‘Residential Training Camp’ at the CCC, Colombo. The players will be staying as a group in the hotel adhering to strict health guidelines.
13 players from across all formats
The Sri Lanka Cricket media said the players will be listed from all the formats and primarily consist of bowlers as they need more conditioning time to achieve the match fitness.
Sri Lanka government in its health regulatory termed cricket as a high-risk sport and thus the training will be a residential training with all the safety measure imposed.
“SLC has taken all required measures in consultation with the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Health to ensure the safety of every individual involved in this exercise, and has formulated a set of procedures to adhere, during the camp period and before,” says SLC media release.

Not allowed to leave the premises
Sri Lanka Cricket further assured that the health and safety measure is paramount and players will live as a group during the period and will not be allowed to leave the hotel premises during the period to attend personal matters.
Health officials already visited the hotel and the practice venue, and provided health guidelines to the staff members of the respective venues to follow, during the camp period, said SLC in its media release.
Moreover, all vehicles involved in the program will be disinfected before commencing the ‘Residential Camp’ and also during the camp period as part of the health and safety guidelines.
