Jason Roy, the star batsman of the English Cricket team, is very excited to get back on the field. He says that he is at this point of time feeling like a kid who is excited to be back with his friends.

The English opener, talking to ESPNcricinfo, is in favor of postponement of the game in unfavorable conditions. He also adds that he is ready to play cricket behind closed doors if required.

Currently, Coronavirus has brought all sports activities to a standstill, and players are not getting any chance to practice or prepare for the tournament. Jason Roy, in this scenario, thinks that deferral of the Showpiece event would make a sense.

“If players aren’t able to prepare in the right way and are not able to get over to Australia, then it makes sense to postpone it,” Roy was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“But if it goes ahead, it’s our job to play cricket – and if we’re told we have three weeks to prepare to go and play in the World T20, all the boys will be putting the yards in to make sure we’re ready for that.

Ready to play cricket behind closed doors

Speaking with the ESPNcricinfo, the English batsman added: “I just want to play some cricket to be honest. I think for us to be able to go out there and play some cricket would be an incredible feeling. I feel like a kid again.

While Jason Roy is eagerly waiting cricket to be resumed, he feels that safety of everyone involved in the game is the most important issue. Along with safety of players, health and well being of fans are equally important says Roy and so he is ready to play in empty stadiums too if the circumstances demand so.

“I guess we’re governed by the government here, we don’t really know what is going on or what the safety measures are. There’s way bigger things out there. I’m more than happy to play behind closed doors, it would just be nice to get out there,” he added.
